Evelyn Steinkuhl, 87, of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at Deaconess Hospital. She was born February 23, 1927, in Warrenton, IN to the late Edgar and Versa (Blythe) Frohbeiter.
She was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Evansville Artists Guild. She was known for her paintings of local historical sites, many of which are no longer present. Evelyn was honored to paint the home of the CEO of Toyota as a retirement gift. She was involved in many local arts and craft shows and received honors in many juried shows. Evelyn was a perfect example of how “sometimes it only takes a matboard and a frame to inspire someone.”
Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbur and Ike Frohbeiter; sister, Helen Nuebling; and grandson, Rob Ungetheim.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Ray Steinkuhl; daughters, Judy (Keith) Omer, Linda (Bob) Ungetheim and Sandy (Steve) Craven; sons, Gary (Terri) Riggs, Allan (Melissa) and Larry (Elizabeth) Steinkuhl; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Art and Carl (Pauline) Frohbeiter.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 21, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1401 West Boonville-New Harmony Road, officiated by Pastor Steve Kieser, with burial in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, and Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
