Frances L. Downey

Frances L. Downey, 87 of Evansville, IN passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Linda E. White Hospice House. Frances was born in Evansville on March 12, 1934 to the late Angelo and Clora Chappell. Frances was a member of Howell General Baptist Church. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1951. She was employed by Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for 44 years. For most of her years, she was the secretary in the Athletic Department at Reitz High School. She was a very devoted Reitz fan. Frances is survived by her sons, Jeff Downey (Kris Head), Mark Downey (Peggy); nieces, Anita Happel, Dawn Lee (Jon); nephew, Darin Downey; Grandson, Aaron Baker (Amy); Great grandsons, Deacon, Travis, Caelan and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 64 years, Robert Downey; sister, Martha Happel. A special thank you to her caregiver, Mike Braham. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2021 at Alexander West Chapel and livestreamed at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA officiated by Rev. Terry Gamblin with entombment to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the funeral home.
