Geneva "Jenny" Shourd

Geneva "Jenny" LaVerne Shourd, 89, of Evansville, IN passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Walnut Creek Alzheimer Care Center. She was born on September 18, 1934, in Dale, IN to the late James and Goldie (Taylor) Lauderdale.

Jenny’s family was the most important thing in her life. She was very religious and highly involved in her church, including Crossroads Christian Church. She served in Bible Studies, women’s ministry and taught Sunday School. Jenny was a wonderful cook, caregiver, avid reader, and loved sewing and tennis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” R. Shourd in 2015.

Jenny is survived by her sons, Michael (Nicole) and Robert (Stacey); grandchildren, Kacie Shourd, Lindsey Byrd (Spencer), Noah Shourd, Mollie Shourd, Luke Shourd, Hope Shourd, and Ethan Shourd; and cousin, Thomas Summerlin (Linda).

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, officiated by Pastor Eric Rawdon, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Walnut Creek and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and kindness.
