Harvey Lee Tanner, 74, of Evansville, IN passed away on October 24, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 1, 1951, in Hays, Kansas to William G. and Marlene Tanner. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1969. Harvey went on to receive a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree from the University of Evansville in 1985. He worked at General Foods Corporation for 22 years and DSM Engineering Plastics for 3 years before joining and co-owning the family business at Tri-State Trophies in 1995 and worked there until his passing.
Harv loved gadgets, ordering too many things from Amazon, music, fast cars, motorcycles, and most of all, his family. He started the car show awards division at Tri-State Trophies which made him many lifelong car-guy friends. He was known for his quick humor and ability to make friends with everyone. He was generous, thoughtful, and a man of strong faith.
He loved his wife of 40 years, Lisa, his two sons, their wives, and three handsome grandsons. Every day was a grand adventure, camping, biking, or going to concerts. He was always rigging something fun (but not quite dangerous) together for his grandkids to enjoy and they will always cherish those memories.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Vicki. He is survived by his wife Lisa, son Zakary (Stephanie), son Spencer (Paige), three grandsons Liam, Remington, and Chapel; his brother Ron (Tammy), niece Tylyn, nephew Trey, sister-in-law Kim Frederking, nieces Amanda Yeager (Weston) and Emma Rose Frederking; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Ed and June Frederking, his uncle John Wegner, his aunt Rose Wegner and many loving extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Lampion Center, 655 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714, a charity close to Harvey’s heart which serves families and children in our community.
