Helen Elizabeth Mahannah

Helen Elizabeth Mahannah, 87, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born at the American Consulate, in Naples Italy, to the late Howard K. and Helen Travers.

She was educated in Switzerland, England, and Canada. Helen served as an interpreter for the FBI during WWII. She married E. Alan Mahannah Jr. in 1946 in Washington DC.

She was an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. Helen was a very caring lady who lived to help others and was first and foremost committed to her family. She was a born again believer in Jesus Christ.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, E. Alan Mahannah Jr. in 1999 and two brothers.

She is survived by her son, Larry Mahannah (Gina) of Kalamazoo, MI; daughters, Peggy Mahannah of Evansville, Kathy Mahannah-Paine (David) of Minneapolis, MN, and Beth Cornelius (Tim) of Evansville; grandchildren, Allison Cornelius, Robert, Jeffrey, and Patrick Mahannah, and Thacher and Kelly Paine; great-grandchild, McKenna Paine; nieces, nephews and numerous friends and extended family that loved her dearly.

Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, November 28, 2011 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5501 Washington Ave, Evansville, IN, officiated by Rev. Dennis Davenport. Friends may visit Sunday from 3:00 to7:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel and from 10 AM to service at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
