Herbert "Herb" Harper, Jr.

Herbert Harper, 95, of Evansville, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. He was born on May 30, 1926 in Butler County, Kentucky to Herbert and Eddith (Hunt) Harper. Herb was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and was proud to have flown to Washington D.C. on the 2nd Honor Flight. He retired from SIGECO at the age of 55 where he was a control operator. After retirement, he and his wife, Marilee, owned and operated Harper Manufacturing for 25 years, where they made Erie Dearie fishing lures. He was a member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ since 1985 and loved the Bible. Herb was a Kentucky Colonel and historian. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, singing, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters; 4 brothers; son, Mark Harper; daughter, Jennifer Harter; and grandson, Jason Hoffman. Herb is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilee (Ennis) Harper; daughters, Jacqueline Rico and Joy Alldredge (Tony); grandchildren, Amanda Monroe, Rachel Patrick (Trey), Karla Hoffman, Tyler Harter (Tiffany), and Bryce and Max Alldredge; great-grandchildren, B’Jai, Elijah, and Billie Grace. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Alexander East Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the funeral home with Alan Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park where military rites will be conducted.
