He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Evansville Printing Corporation. He was a founding member of the Methodist Temple and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Herb was an active volunteer and dedicated his time to serving others. He volunteered with the Literacy Center, teaching adults to read.
He served as a Deaconess Hospice Care volunteer for 25 years and received the 2012 Golden Hoosier Award for his work. He was an avid Clabber card player, taught ballroom dancing, raised beautiful hybrid roses which he enjoyed sharing and he loved to travel. He enjoyed traveling to Glacier National Park, vacationing for 25 years.
Herb was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend with a great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence “Bud” Weyer and James Weyer; sister, Ruby (Weyer) Dorris.
He is survived by his sister Lee Crow (Bob) of Evansville, IN; brother Russell Weyer of Palm Harbor, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel with Pastor JillAnn Knonenborg officiating followed with a burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday 3-7 p.m. and Saturday 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
