

He served in the 95th Infantry with the Army during WWII and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He was retired from Anchor Industries and enjoyed woodworking.
Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lou McClain; parents, Charles and Viola Brooks; sisters, Ethel Wilson and Geraldine DeBarge; and brother, Clarence Brooks.
He is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Rausch (Jeff) of Brownsburg, IN; son, Gary Brooks (Donna) of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Ryan Brooks (Erin), Stephanie Borrego (Antonio), Adam Rausch (Erin), Nathan Rausch (Danielle) and Niki Brooks; great-grandchildren, Alex Brooks, Daniel and David Borrego and Zachary Rausch; sister, Edith Townsend; and brother, Tom Brooks.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7700 Middle Mt. Vernon Road, officiated by Rev. Sean Esterline, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Saturday from 12:00 PM until service time at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Evansville Protestant Home for their compassionate care during Herman's time there.
