Irma was a strong-willed woman who lived life on her own terms. A proud Pentecostal and self-proclaimed "holy roller," she held tightly to her faith and wasn’t shy about it. Her belief in God was deeply rooted and a guiding force throughout her life. Irma was known for her fiery spirit, she was stubborn, sassy, and never afraid to speak her mind. Her dynamic with her ex-husband, Jim, was legendary in the family. The two bickered like clockwork, earning them the affectionate nickname “Maw and Paw Kettle,” which stuck for years. In her younger years she enjoyed cooking for the family and dancing to the oldies. She was always a homemaker although sleeping was a very important part of her day!
Irma is survived by daughters, Lisa Webster and Tammy Kirk; son, James White Jr.; grandchildren, Kevin White, Amanda Robertson, Tony Kirk II, Noah Kirk, Luke Kirk, James White and Leah White; and ten great-grandchildren and soon to be eleven; brother-in-law, Thomas Pate; and sisters-in-law, Florence Chappel and Janet Pence; niece, Diane Gray; and nephew, Billy Cantrell; and several extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Mildred Keown; sisters, Virginia Chappell and Pearl Cantrell; and infant sister, Mary Keown; and soulmate, James White Sr.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 7128 Reed Bluff City Road, Reed, KY.
