James graduated from Rex Mundi in 1961. He was a Kiwanis award winner for football. He worked for Bucyrus Erie until they left Evansville. James purchased Tri-State Disposal in 1981 and ran that until 2020.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Karen Brinkmeyer; sister, Mary Jean.
He is survived by his daughter, Kina Brinkmeyer; sons, Jim Brinkmeyer, David Brinkmeyer (Paula) and Chris Brinkmeyer (Sarah); grandchildren, Evan, Jill, Jenna, Haley, Easton, Ava, Daniel and Sara; great grandchildren, Jaelin, Carter, Melina, Anaya, Angelica, and Maribel; brother, Robert Brinkmeyer (Lynn); brother-in-law, Gary Denton (Linda); nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Fr. John Brosmer with burial to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the funeral home.
