

He was the owner of Jim Freels Lake Shore Boats in Cadiz, KY, and was involved with the Marine Industry for 29 years. Jim built five full-sized boats, and in his later years he enjoyed designing and building custom model boats. He was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and former Commander of the Evansville Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla.
Jim is survived by his wife 66 years who resides in Carbondale, IL, Lois Freels; son, James Paul Freels II and his wife, Wanda of Cadiz, KY; two daughters, Linda Happel, and husband, Dennis of Wadesville, IN and Leslie Lloyd of Goreville, IL; brother, John Freels of Guyton, GA; sister, Carol Grimes of Sebree, KY; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Brian Murley. Friends may visit Tuesday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
