Obituario de James "Jim" Lee Brockman
James (Jim) Brockman, 85, of Evansville, passed away peacefully Friday, March 8, 2019, at The Heritage Center. He was born June 27, 1933, in St. Meinrad, Indiana, to the late Frank and Regina (Neu) Brockman. Jim graduated from Dale High School in 1951. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Whirlpool Corp. after 37 years. He was also a self-employed painter, which he continued through his mid- 70's. He was the epitome of hard work. He was a long time member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church. He enjoyed camping and boating with his late wife, Mary Lee. They were members of the Outboard Boating Club and lifetime members of Small Crafters. Jim was also a member of Local 808 Union and a lifetime member of The River Bend Association. He loved barbecuing, watching NASCAR races and IU basketball, especially when it was a "barn burner". Family was the most important thing to Jim, and he treasured spending time with them. Above all, he was a loving husband, the greatest dad, and wonderful papaw. Special thanks to the staff at The Heritage Center and Heritage Hospice for the wonderful care Jim was given. They treated him with love and respect--even on his "challenging" days. They became a second family to him over the past 2 years. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years, Mary Lee; brother, Merwyn Brockman, sister, Renola Nord Cecil; and infant sister, Mary Jane Brockman. He is survived by daughters, Karen Case (Kem) and Melanie Hunt (Greg) of Evansville; grandchildren, Whitney Livesay (Daniel), Ryan Case, Haley and Brandon Hunt; great-grandson, Bennett Livesay; sister, Edna "Patty" Eger, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was also looking forward to the arrival of a second great-grandson, due in August. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Road, officiated by Fr. Zack Etienne, with entombment in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit 3-7 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
