He was a member of Howell General Baptist Church. He retired from Iron Workers Local 103 after 50 years. Jim was the owner of the Bamboo Bar for 15 years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1114 and American Legion Post #265. He was a member of Owls and River Bend.
James was preceded in death by his son, Robert Stark; granddaughter, Brooke “Brookie” Turpen.
He is survived by his wife, Margie (Cox) Stark; sons, James R. Stark Jr, Willard E. Stark (Tracy); daughters, Carrie L. Turpen (Scott), Sherry L. Schnell (Gary); grandchildren, Shannon, Lacey, Ashley, Wesley, Brittney, Brandy, Briana, Kenny, Kaitlyn, Sly, and Wiley; 14 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 12, 2021 at Alexander West Chapel and livestreamed at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA officiated by Pastor Terry Gamblin. Burial will follow in Alexander Memorial Park and military honors performed by Vanderburgh County Veterans Memorial Club. Friends may visit Sunday from 1 to 5 pm, and Monday from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
