 Obituario de Jean Jean-Baptiste Gauthier
Jean (John) Jean-Baptiste Gauthier (Aug. 7, 1935–Nov. 28, 2018) John was born in Montreal, Canada. He and his parents immigrated to the US when he was 18 years old, where they learned English primarily through newspapers and TV. John’s lifelong love of photography grew from his service in the US Army as a documentary photographer during his tour of Europe from 1954–’56. He married his wife Sue on July 3, 1964, and the two entrepreneurs ran first a nightclub in Iowa and then a Karmelkorn shop in Chicago. They eventually settled in Evansville, Ind., and John was naturalized as a US citizen in 1981. John managed a Harry Levinson’s men’s clothing store until his semi-retirement in 1995. John was a devoted family man and provider, and the couple had two children. John was well-known in the community; everyone who met him was charmed by his witty personality. He was a natural conversationalist, and his sharp insight into a wide range of topics made for animated discussions. He was an avid reader, fascinated by history, religion, politics, and biographies. In addition to photography, his whimsical hobbies extended to gardening, aquariums, home improvement, model trains, and cooking. He was a member of Christ the King Church before he moved to Indianapolis, Ind., in 2015 and then Wooster, Ohio, in 2017. He died peacefully surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Sue (Jamison) Gauthier (2012), his mother Ernestine (Boucher) Gauthier (2009), and his father Didace Gauthier (1996). He is survived by his daughters Nicole (Gauthier) Mann (husband: Tim Mann) and Lisa Gauthier Mitchison (husband: Robert Mitchison) and his grandchildren Olivia (Mann) Clevenger, Ethan Mann, Logan Mann, Jillian Mann, and Ridley Mitchison. Memorial contributions can be made to Life Care Hospice, Wooster, Ohio, www.lifecarehospice.org. A Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018, at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, officiated by Rev. Joseph Ziliak. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mausoleum chapel.
