She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Ladies Auxiliary for BLET Locomotive Engineering Union and had been a boy scout leader mom. Jeanette loved shopping and catching great sales. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cross-stitching and embroidery. Jeanette loved traveling and spending time at her home in Okeechobee, FL. She loved being by the pool or the beach. Jeanette and her husband Ray went on many bus tours with their friends over the years. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking for them. Jeanette adored her grandchildren. She was an awesome mom, the glue of her family and will be deeply missed.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Raymond “Ray” Merrill, in 2018; and grandson, Jared Powell.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Merrill and Kelly Powell (Terry); sons, Randall Merrill (Amy) and Jeff Merrill (Lynda); brother, Don Kelly (Janice); grandchildren, Lori Green-Irwin, Raiford Putnam, Matthew Merrill (Alaina), Daniel Merrill (Caroline), Katie Waldroup (Grant), Morgan Merrill, and Kaden Merrill; and great-grandchildren, Kailynn Powell, Kaleb Powell, Raylin Waldroup and Teagan Waldroup.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel officiated by Celebrant Carrie Hatchett. Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
