Jesse R. R Smith

Jesse Raymond Smith passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center. He was born June 24, 1944 to the late Jesse Edward and Violet May Smith. He was a member of Glory Road Baptist Church. He graduated from F. J. Reitz High School in 1962. Jesse retired from Bristol-Myers after 34 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years. He was a Vietnam War Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Huff, Charlotte Robertson and Norma Rae Smith.

Jesse is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon (DeMotte) Smith, sons, Ronald Smith, Jeffery Smith of Evansville; daughter, Carol Theriault (Nelson) of Meteghan, Nova Scotia, Canada; grandchildren Courtney DeLong of Meteghan, Nova Scotia, Canada; Christopher Smith and Brittany Smith of Evansville; other grandchildren, Billy Dorsey and Matthew Roby of Evansville; close friends, Kassie Kramer and Jennifer Wick of Evansville; brothers Bruce Smith (Joyce) of Selvin, IN, Les Smith (Pauline) of Milwaukee, WI, Bob Smith, David Smith, Joe Smith (Patty) and Tom Smith of Evansville and Bill Smith of Lynnville, IN; sisters, Eleanor Basinger of Coldwater, MI, Diane Lynch (Richard) and Jeanette Smith of Evansville, Rebecca Bellinger (Steve) of Orland, IN and Rhonda Sue Bowling of Anderson, IN; in-laws, Janice Smith of Evansville, Mary Ann Gayle (Richard) of Scottsdale, AZ and James DeMotte (Brenda) of Jasper, IN along with nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00AM, Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Delbert Bryant with burial at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, February 24, 2012, at the funeral home.
