JoAnn Walker

JoAnn (Hawkins) Walker, 88, of Evansville, IN passed away July 24, 2021 at Linda White Hospice. She was born on April 10, 1933 to the late Sidney and Jewel Hawkins. JoAnn graduated from Keystone High School in Harrisburg, IL in 1951. She was very active in band and marching band. She moved to Evansville where she went to work for Bucyrus-Erie. She married Edward Taylor Walker in 1957. When Bucyrus-Erie closed she worked for and retired from Bristol-Myers-Squibb. She was a member of Howell General Baptist Church. Jo Ann enjoyed quilting, playing clabber and going out to dinner with her friends. JoAnn is survived by her niece, Linda (Hawkins) Moore; nephews, Terry Kneer, Frances Kneer, Stephen Hawkins and Fredrick Hawkins. JoAnn’s family and friends would like to thank the staff of Linda White Hospice House and the staff at West River Health Campus for the care that she received. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Terry Gamblin with burial to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 and Friday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
