He was a longtime member of the NRA and was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He was a member of Harwood Baptist Church. He loved his wife very deeply and looked forward to the day he would be back with her.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Oneida (Fray) Sharber; step-son, Jim McBride; and father, Forrest Sharber.
He is survived by his step-sons, Cliff and Steve McBride; mother, Laure Sharber; brother, Jesse Sharber; sisters, Ann Briody and Linda Stroud; and six grandchildren.
Services were 2:00 PM Monday, May 20, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Karl Crowe, with entombment in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends visited Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
