

John was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 19, 1958. His parents were Clifford and Bonnie (Brennen) Woodard. John served in the Navy and worked as a security guard for 15 years at Tropicana (Aztar). John was loved and respected by his co-workers and he gave the same back. He enjoyed golf, wrestling, spending time with his family grilling out, trying new recipes in the kitchen, refereeing for the Oak Hill Baptist kids Upward basketball team, reading the bible at night before bed and planting vegetables in his garden. He LOVED going out to eat with his son Gary and spending time with him one on one, he LOVED spending time with his wife by sitting outside their home and watching the birds, he LOVED having his nieces and nephews around him, he LOVED his Church and Church family, he LOVED his dogs (Nikki, Poncho) and his cat (Kitta) and he LOVED the band KISS.
John is survived by his wife of 31 years, Patricia (Benefiel) Woodard; son, Gary Woodard of Evansville; brother, Jim (Yvonne) Woodard of Evansville; father-in-law, William (Kathy) Benefiel of Evansville; sisters-in-law, Yvette (Bobby) Poole of Henderson and Renee Givens of Evansville; brother-in-law, Bobby Benefiel of Evansville; five nieces; five nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Bonnie Woodard; mother-in-law, Virginia (Noe) Benefiel; brother-in-law, Ronald Benefiel; sister-in-law, Yvonne Poole, and brother-in-law, John Benefiel.
John truly showed the love of Jesus to everyone he met.
Funeral Services will be 1:00PM, Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, officiated by Pastor Alan Scott. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00AM to service time at the funeral home.
