

Joyce Clare (Fegan) Fox, 85, formerly of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Harmonie Heathcare, New Harmony, IN, from a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Joyce was born to William and Margaret (Norris) Fegan, September 21, 1927 in Evansville, IN.
Joyce was a former member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Evansville, IN where she was involved in many things: bingo, ladies club and sewing beautiful vestments for Father Hill. She went to St. Joseph Catholic Grade School (City) and graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1945. Joyce married Charles C. Fox on October 26, 1947. They were married for 29 years, before Charles’ death in 1976.
She worked at Niseners downtown, ABC department Store, W.T. Grants, Heyden & Steber HBW, and retired at 65 from Partners Home Health. She enjoyed meeting with classmates from St. Joseph Catholic School (city) and the Memorial (1945) girls for monthly gatherings. Joyce loved playing cards with her friends, making crafts, sewing, crocheting, knitting, loved her collection of angels and enjoyed gathering family genealogy with her niece Mary. She loved being with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Fox in 1976; her parents, William and Margaret (Norris) Fegan; a sister-in-law; brothers-in-law; and two nephews.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Fox and special friend, Bruce Willis, Charlene (Sherry) Folz and husband, Henry (Hank) all of Mt. Vernon, IN; grandchildren, Rhonda Simpson and husband Brian, Shauna Little and husband Mike all of Mt. Vernon, IN, Tina Walton and husband Adam, Curtis Goebel and wife Cassie all of Evansville and Nick Goebel and wife Sara of Wadesville; great grandchildren, Colin McReynolds, Elizabeth Burns and Berkley Walton, Alison and Kyle Simpson, Matalynn and Braxton Goebel and Kaeden Gauer, Hailey, Aaron and Caleb Goebel, Lisa, Tyler, Samantha and Blake Little; sister, Barbara Singer and sister-in-law Thelma Fox, both of Evansville; several nieces and nephews.
Joyce is also survived by her daughter Sherry’s stepchildren and their families and a former great-granddaughter, Sheaven Harralson.
Services will be 1:30 Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 Lodge Avenue, officiated by Father Claude Burns with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel and Tuesday from 12:30 PM until service time at the church.
