Dear Frank, Fred, Christy, Mary, and Margaret,
I didn't find out till today as I was getting ready to send her birthday card, that she was gone.  I am so sorry for your loss and the loss of all of the people she took the time to be her precious gracious self.  After my mother's death and my sister's death, she grieved with me and gave me her shoulder to cry on.  Last time I talked to her in July(I think) her words when she picked up the phone were "Oh please tell me you're in Evansville!"  She was my mother's dearest and most precious lifelong friend.  What a jewel she was!!

Wayne and I were so sorry to of the loss of your mother. Aunt Karolyn was the woman I most wanted to be like. She was down to earth, sensible, kind, intelligent and a great aunt to all of her nieces and nephews.  I still have all of the recipes for her Christmas cookies that she took the time to send me (with tips and pointers to help me out). I've never tried them because I know they won't be like hers but I think I will this year in her honor. Know that she will be missed by so many people, and always remembered with much love and many fond memories

We were so sad to learn of your mom's passing!

(Great) Aunt Karolyn was a beautiful example of intelligence, grace and kindness to me and Patrick.  The gentle way that she reached out to us after the birth of our disabled daughter in 2001 was one of only a handful of gestures that helped change my perspective into a feeling that our baby would be loved and valued, no matter her abilities. 

After that, we remained in touch every year at Christmas, when we exchanged cards and letters, in which she always inquired about the children, gave positive feedback on what a great job we were doing, and shared news of her life and how Freddie and August were doing.  It will be a poignant moment this December to miss her Christmas card and note, but I'm glad to know she will be with Uncle Frank for the first Christmas in a while.  

Your elegant mother was one of a kind, and she will be missed.

Karolyn, or "Aunt Karolyn" as I always called her even though we were not directly related, was a kind and generous soul.  She will be missed by all who loved her and I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family upon the passing of this grand lady.
