

Karon Loreine (Lutz) Wathen, 88, of Darmstadt, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at home with her loved ones near her. She was born November 09, 1937, in Evansville to the late Norman and Adelia Lutz.
Karon and Robert “Wayne” Wathen were married August 28, 1960, at Darmstadt Trinity Lutheran Church where she has been a lifelong member. Karon was very active in the church choir, sang solo at many weddings and enjoyed all activities through the church. She was the Sunday School Secretary/Administrator for 50 yrs. She was also an administrative assistant for several businesses through the years, as well. Karon was an avid gardener and loved her goats, sheep, chickens and cats. She had a special horse named Stormy. She was a lifetime member of the American Goat Association. She loved all farm animals and her special pets, too.
Karon is survived by her husband of almost 66 yrs, Robert “Wayne” Wathen; sons, Michael (Kula), Dean and Neal; grandchildren, Zachary (Kiana) and Courtney Wathen; great grandchildren, Reid and Reagan Wathen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Lutz, her in-laws, Frank and Ruth Wathen and her sisters-in-law, Norma Niehaus and Marilyn Johnson.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Darmstadt Trinity Lutheran Church. A graveside Committal Service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Church Cemetery across the street from the Sanctuary with Pastor James Glowinski officiating.
