Laura D. Schaar

Laura D. Schaar, 86, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born April 4, 1925, in Hebbardsville, KY to the late Dennis and Iris (Madden) Steele.

She was a long-time member of St. James East United Methodist Church and currently a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was employed with the EVSC as a Teacher’s Aide and also worked at the Luggage Shop.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, William Schaar; and brothers, Marvin, Thomas and Bobby Steele.

She is survived by her sons, Gary (Joyce) Schaar of Columbus, IN and Barry (Gina) Schaar of Evansville; grandchildren, Christen of Weimar, Germany, Jenni of Columbus, IN, Lindsay and Meredith Schaar of Evansville; sisters, Ilene Murphy of Evansville and Lucille Ferruzzi of Revere, MA; and brother, Jim Steele of Austin, TX.

Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mitch Gieselman, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

It is hard to find neighbors as good as you all were. We were neighbors, when we were kids, when we lived at 2016 theater Drive.

I am so sorry to hear of your mother's death. I always enjoyed talking to her when I was a pastor at St. James East. She was very proud of her sons, daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren. You honored your mother with your love for her, God, and others. She was blessed by her loving family.
