

She was a devout Christian and a 40 year member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church where she and her husband truly enjoyed the fellowship at church. LaVerne was instrumental in leading others to the Lord. She was very kind, giving, and a caregiver for everyone.
The family would like to personally thank all of LaVerne’s caregivers, especially Jenelle Goebel and Dr. David Schultz, for their concern and compassion during the last ten years of her life.
LaVerne and her husband, Milton, had a successful livestock and grain farm. She farmed side by side with him for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Milton J. Goebel; brothers, Gerald Farny and Naurice Farney.
LaVerne is survived by her sons, Marlin Goebel and wife Connie, and Larry Goebel and wife Susan all of Evansville; grandchildren, Kevin Goebel (Carol), Sherry Adams, Tracy Pfeifer (Lance), Brandon Czoer, Darren Goebel (Michelle), Ryan Goebel (Stacy), Jeremy Goebel (Jenelle); and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by friend and Pastor Mike Thompson with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at Alexander North Chapel.
