

Lawrence “Torch” Brumitt, 78, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Willow Park. He was born August 9, 1939, in Louisville, KY to the late Harry Edward and Elma Lee (Fritz) Brumitt.
He graduated from Bosse High School and was a US Navy Veteran, having served on the USS Rankin. He retired from Alcoa after 40 years of work, and was a member of the Alcoa Golf League. Torch enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a phenomenal knowledge of geography. He had traveled extensively all over the world. Recently, he had a grandson, Torch, proudly named in his honor. Lawrence was beloved by his family and was a noble and truly good man who will be sorely missed.
Torch was preceded in death by his wife, Helen B. Brumitt, in 2003; and daughters, Linda Wright and Sheryl Gibson.
He is survived by his son, Scott Brumitt (Meghan); brother, Wayne “Tony” Brumitt; grandchildren, Torch Brumitt, Jaime Hoskins, Jeremy Rakestraw, Kristal Brown and Robert Hyneman; seven great-grandchildren; and one great, great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Alexander West Chapel, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
