Lawrence Gene Clark

Lawrence “Larry” Gene Clark, 83 of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. Larry was born on May 9, 1941 to the late Gladys “Pete” and Walter Clark. He graduated in the class of 1959 from Mt. Vernon Senior High. Right out of high school he went to work at Fuhrer Ford Milling and retired from ADM Trucking after 30+ years . Larry loved to help others on electrical projects, vehicles, and his motorcycle. He loved fishing, hanging out in his garage, and on the corner of Sycamore and Maple with his friends “the corner gang." He enjoyed spending time with family. Larry was a devoted husband, father, family man and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents; his children, William “Billy” Clark, and Shannon Clark; siblings, Juanita Schaeffer, Kenny Clark, and Elaine King; grandchildren, Heather Phillips Cain, Emma Creswell and Ethan Creswell; great-grandson, Duke Johnson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Annie and Carl Hawkins; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Sarah; children, Cindy (Dave) Reitz, Shawn Clark (Julie Gibbens), Inez Pfingston, Frank Davis (Tammy Riggs), Susan Conrad (Jeff Osborne), April Stewart, Siron (Andrea) Creswell, Amber, Nevaeh, Shay, Dakota, and Kaydence Clark; siblings, Doris Crutchfield (Dwight Esche), John Clark (Lori Schenk); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, and his special dog, Lucy. The family would like to thank everyone for their care and compassion for Larry in his final days. A special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the cemetery chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to defray funeral costs.
