Lee McCutchan Riggs passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by his caring family. He was born on April 5, 1938, in Evansville to Oscar and Harriett (McCutchan) Riggs. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Purdue University. After spending several years teaching Jr. High and Sr. High students, he purchased his parents’ dairy farm where he continued to milk registered Guernsey cattle for 52 years. During this time he proudly showed his prize winning Guernseys at county fairs, state fairs, and national and international shows and also traveled to New Zealand to share information about the benefits of the Guernsey breed. He served on state and national Guernsey Boards and the IN State Dairy Assn. Board allowing him to attend many conventions in all four corners of the United States. He was honored with the Vanderburgh County Rural Urban Award, the IN Guernsey Breeders Distinguished Service and Master Breeder Awards, and the Vanderburgh County Home Extension Honorary Member Award.
Lee was a 50+ year active member of Blue Grass Church. His passion was to provide for and teach others.
