

Lloyd F. Gwaltney, 93, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 12, 1922, in Gibson County, to the late Guy and Mary (Grimm) Gwaltney.
As a World War II veteran, he was a radio operator, sharp shooter, and 1st Class machine gunner. He served at the battle of Normandy and received several metals of honor. He felt his life had been spared and gave God all of the praise. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord. One of his favorite Bible verses was Isaiah 53:5, “By His stripes, we are healed”. He owned and operated Gwaltney Heating and Air and also served as a deacon at Pleasant Chapel and Scott Township General Baptist Church for over 40 years.
Lloyd is preceded in death by three sisters; three brothers; children, Guy Matthew Gwaltney, Jesse Allen Devine and Lloyd Ray Gwaltney; and granddaughter, Jessi Jo Devine.
Left to cherish loving memories are his wife of 52 years, Mary Gwaltney, whom he married July 6, 1963 at Central Church in Evansville; children, Martina (Marty) Gwaltney, Kenneth (Kenny) Gwaltney, Linda Walker, Steve Devine, Marlene, Janice, Cheryl and Lois who lives out of state; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, officiated by Rev. Don Ashby, with burial in Barnett Chapel Cemetery, where military rites will be performed. Friends may visit Wednesday from 9:00AM to service time.
