Lois I. Hurt Smith

She was an active member of Bethel Temple, where she scheduled volunteers for hospital visits. She retired from Deaconess Hospital after more than 20 years of service. She enjoyed gospel music and attending the Praise Gathering and National Quartet Convention. She also enjoyed spending time with family and cooking her family’s favorite dishes.

Lois is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dewey S. Smith; son, Scott A. (Cindy) Smith; daughter, Diana (Glen) Hoff; sister, Mary Oldham; grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Neth, Jamie (Landon) DaPrile, Christina Smith, Steven Smith, and Andrew Smith; great-grandchildren, Devon and Leigha Neth, Austin and Case DaPrile.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. David Schwambach, with burial in Clark Cemetery in Owensville, IN. Friends may visit Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. William Hardesty, Dr. Susan Gravelyn and the ICU nurses who cared for Lois.
