He was a WWII US Marine Corps Veteran, a steel worker at Bethlehem Steel, and a founding member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Merrillville. Lowell enjoyed bowling and playing softball in his younger years and traveled extensively after his retirement. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time outdoors, walking five miles a day for many years.
Lowell was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Pinkston; son, Dale Pinkston; brother, Gene Pinkston; and sister, Martine Tillerson.
He is survived by his sister, Jenoria P. Collier of Brentwood, TN; nieces and nephews, Bryan, Brad, and Matt Pinkston, Kevin Collier, and Tracy Velez.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 PM CDT Friday, May 26, 2017, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville, IN, with burial to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit Friday from 10:00 AM CDT until service time at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
