Luke Michael Johnson

Luke was born on September 6, 2005, at The Women’s Hospital/Deaconess in Newburgh, Indiana.

Luke grew up in his family home on the Northside of Evansville, Indiana. Luke was of Christian faith and made a public profession of his faith and was baptized on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, at 11 years of age.

One of Luke’s biggest passions was playing football which began with K-guard flag football in kindergarten. He continued playing with the Gold Bears Youth Football league where he developed a love for the game. Luke always towered over his peers and gained the nickname of “Gentle Giant” from some of his early coaches and “Big Luke” from his teammates. His love for football persisted and increased throughout his elementary, middle and high school years, culminating with his 2023-2024 Senior year at Central High School.

Luke is survived by his mother Denise (Schrader) Johnson, sister Kelsea Schrader, brother Levi Johnson, “adopted” brother Laterence “Tee” Hicks, half-sister Chelsea Morford, maternal grandparents Valerie and Edward Spiller, paternal grandparents Daniel and Cheryle Johnson, great grandfather George E. Martin, great grandmother Flossine Schrader, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at Alexander North Chapel officiated by George Madison with assistance from Brandon Artis. Visitation will follow from 3-7 p.m.
