Marge was born in Evansville on June 23, 1935, to Alvin and Vernita (Stremming) Hassee. Marge was a graduate of Benjamin Bosse High School and Evansville College where she was a member and President of the Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
Marge was a lifelong Girl Scout and spent over 45 years leading and assisting the Girl Scouts as an adult volunteer in a number of roles. She served as the Field Vice President for the Rain Tree Girl Scout Council and was awarded the two highest adult volunteer recognitions - The Thanks Badge. She chaired several National Girl Scout events and worked with the University of Evansville to host Fine and Performing Arts events for Scouts. She summarized her passion for these endeavors as “an opportunity to put young women in the arena in which they could develop their talents, empathy, and abilities to work cooperatively as a group.” Her commitment and dedication to Scouting will be sorely missed.
