

Margie Marie Redman, 96, passed away on November 24, 2018, at Holiday Retirement Village. She was born on January 24, 1922, to John P. Riecken and Louise W. (Berkemeier) Riecken in Posey County. She was married to Russell Redman on May 16, 1941, in the Zion UCC parsonage. At Russell’s death they had been married 63 years
Margie attended Upton School in Posey County, then Campbell School in Evansville, and graduated from Central High School in 1940. She attended Bramwell Business School and worked as a secretary to a judge and an eye doctor, before spending several years as a homemaker for their three children. For 24 years, she was a secretary for Meridian Insurance Company in their claim office. Margie has been a member of St. Lucas United Church of Christ and taught the Mary Martha Sunday School Class for 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, croknitting, cooking, and gardening. She was known for her hospitality and amazing pies! Margie’s favorite activity was spending time with family.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; sisters, Lillian Burkes and Selma Schoeny; brothers, Werner Riecken and John Riecken and son, Richard (Dick) Redman.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Dougan of Henderson, KY; son, Kent (Karen) Redman of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter-in-law Nancy Redman (Rochester, MN); five grandchildren: Don (Marie) Redman, Lori (Rafael) Gonzalez, Scott Roudebush, Bryan (Kandice) Redman, and Amy (Jason) Lathers. Margie also enjoyed her 8 great grandchildren with number 9 due in February, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St., with Dr. Rev. Lynn Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
