Mary Elizabeth (Helverson) Hooker, 78, was led home Friday, December 16, 2016, by the Virgin Mary while having the Rosary read to her by her daughter. She was born August 2, 1938, in Evansville, IN to the late Charles and Agnes (Wright) Helverson.
She worked in both the classifieds department and as a writer for the Princeton Clarion. Before retiring, she worked for the city of Asheville, NC. Mary Beth was an avid cat lover. She lived in cities spanning from Savannah to Tucson, but her favorite place was The Smoky Mountains.
Mary Beth is survived by her daughters, Allison Hooker, Lisa (Larry) Seib, Nancy (Steve) Martin and Valerie (David Chauncy) Hooker; son, Michael Hooker; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Howie) Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a “thank you” to the staff at Good Samaritan and Heritage Hospice for their devotion and kindness while caring for Mary Beth.
We will miss you, Diyah.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
