Many worlds are broken, as Matt passed away unexpectedly while out of town. He was born on July 30, 1973 to the late James McCure and Christine (Neels) Curl. He grew up in Shawneetown, Illinois and enjoyed helping his father on the farm as a young child. Matt went on to graduate from the University of Illinois, with a degree in civil engineering in 1996. After graduation, he worked for a few oil and gas companies, leading to a twenty-year career with Circle K Convenience Stores as Vice President of Franchise and International Development.
In 2004 he married Ashlee Medlin from Omaha, Illinois. During their early years of marriage, work had them relocate a few times. Before moving to Evansville, Indiana, they lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for 10 years. This caused a lifelong love for the beach and mountains. Over the years, work led Matt to travel all over the world. He loved visiting new places and learning about their cultures. Hong Kong was one of his favorite destinations. He was an active parishioner at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Evansville, Indiana, serving on Parrish Council. Matt had several activities he enjoyed doing in his past time. Mowing his yard, eating ice cream, watching sports (an avid fan of University of Illinois basketball) to name a few. However, his most treasured thing was spending time with his wife and son.
Matt is survived by his wife Ashlee and son Hayes of Evansville; his mother Chris and Craig Curl of Elizabeth, Colorado; two brothers with nieces and a nephew; Jimmy, Krystal, Mina and Sophia McCure of The Woodlands, Texas, Mike, Melissa, Grant and Isabelle McCure of Southlake, Texas. Father and Mother in laws Butch and Debbie Medlin of Evansville, Indiana. Matt is preceded in death by his father James McCure and brother Steve McCure.
Matt was a good husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30th at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Rd., officiated by Fr. Jason Gries. A memorial celebration will follow until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
