

He was a WWII Army Veteran and was in the D-Day Invasion. After the war, Mearl worked in electrical construction in Northern Indiana. He later opened his own business in Oakland City and then went to work at Alcoa, where he retired in 1982 after 22 years. He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ. He loved gardening and his dog, Jill.
Mearl was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Neiswinger; grandson, Adam Wheeler; parents, Ernest and Grace Neiswinger; brothers, Lloyd and Don Neiswinger; and infant children, Ray Allen and Robert Neiswinger.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Doylyn (Wheeler) Neiswinger; children, Vicki Neiswinger Tichenor (Gary), Gayle Jeffers (Bob), Stan Wheeler (Janice), Rick Neiswinger (Jennifer), all of Evansville, and Joy Pinerola (Darri) of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Amy Casey (fiancé, Mark Smith), Lisa Crist (Jeff), Ray Wheeler, Brad Neiswinger (Chelsea), Matt and Chris Neiswinger, and Drew and Tori Pinerola; great-grandchildren, Alexa Casey and Alex, Maxwell and Parker Crist; siblings, Wilma Clarner and Marvin Neiswinger (Karon); and 12 nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 26, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jan Harris, with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday from 9:30 AM until service time at the funeral home.
