Michael O. Goebel

Michael O. Goebel, 69, of Newburgh, IN passed away with his wife by his side on June 3, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born on May 5, 1952 to the late Oscar and Margaret Goebel in Evansville, Indiana. Michael worked for the United States Postal Service at several locations with his final position being Postmaster at Inglefield Post Office in Darmstadt for many years. He enjoyed teaching Tai Chi, playing chess, and making music with friends. He was a talented musician, and playing in bands was an important part of his life. Mike graduated from Reitz High School in 1970 and earned a B.A. in History from USI. He was proud of his west side roots even though he lived in "The Burgh." He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kathleen Workman; nieces, Laura (Ryan) Brademeyer, Lisa Allen, Katie (Ben) Larramore, Emily (Amelia) Rosenquist; nephews, Grant Pelletier, Tyzer (Lauren) Pelletier, Matthew Workman, Peter Rosenquist; brother-in-law, David (Claudia) Workman; sisters-in-law, Janice Workman (Abe Tamayo), Sharon Pelletier, and several great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Alexander West Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm officiated by Rev. Deborah McBride.
