Norma Ruth Hitchcock born February 26, 1934, fell asleep into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 3, 2015 after a long battle with Dementia. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, and loved and heartily served God by serving others in her family church & community. Mom was a friend to everyone. She was simple, loyal, faithful, and so easy to love. Her smile would light up your life, and she loved hers, sharing laughter & having fun with her family and friends. We know she’s in heaven, and we can’t wait to see her again.
She married Howard (Larry) Newell Hitchcock on March 20, 1953, who was also promoted to heaven to be with the Lord on July 19, 2011. They had both accepted the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior early in life, and lived their lives dedicated to Him. They were members of New Horizons Fellowship, and throughout their lives served the Lord in a variety of ministries in their church.
Through their love, God blessed them with 3 children, Gary, Greg & Pam; 7 Grandchildren Toby, Tori, Josh, Matt, Brandon, Brent & Blake; and most recently, 4 Great Grandchildren Asher, Jasper, Duncan & Arianna. They loved their family with all their heart, second only to their deep committed love to the Lord Jesus.
Dad was employed at the Whirlpool Corp. for more than 30 years, and retired in 1991. Mom and Dad were inseparable, and lived their remaining golden years enjoying the simple pleasures of life with their family & friends. When Dad began to show signs of Dementia, Mom continued caring for him at home, even though she could barely walk, until he required 24 a day hour care. Only a few months after Dad was admitted to Brentwood Nursing Center, she was admitted too, and spent their last 6 months together.
Besides their commitment to their Lord and their family, their passion was music, which was instilled in each of their children and grandchildren. Theirs is a legacy of eternal values, commitment to family, and compassion to win the lost to Jesus Christ. Their testimony and faithfulness to the Word of God will remain their greatest influence on their family and those who knew them. Your family will always love you!
