

She was a member of the Alpha Delta Chapter of E.S.A, Evansville Business and Professional Women’s Club. She served on both the Board of USI Arts and Humanities and on the Board of Friends of Willard Library for a number of years. She was a member of Reitz Home Guild and was a former docent. Olive was also a member of the Evansville Philharmonic Guild, and volunteered at the gift shop in Evansville’s Science and History Museum and at Goodwill Auxiliary. She attended St. James West United Methodist Church.
Olive was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Turpen.
She is survived by her sister, Gayle Kapansky of Anchorage, AK; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ashworth of Evansville; dear friend, Paul Stofleth of Evansville; nieces, Vickie Raleigh, Cheryl Funkhouser, Elaine Springer, BethAnne Kapansky, Kathy Cape and Amy Creek; nephews, Kent Ashworth, Arthur Ashworth, Wayne Rueger and Brent Kapansky; and numerous great, great-great, and great, great, great-nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services, officiated by Rev. Gene Backes, will be held, with burial in Black Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, IN.
