

He was a retired College Professor and Assistant Superintendent of Schools at Elizabethtown Independent Schools in Elizabethtown, KY. He was a retired Major in the US Air Force. He fought in WWII and was stationed in Europe. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Kentucky Teachers Retirement Association and a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Ralph’s hobbies included playing the harmonica, fiction writing, reading, science, stamp and coin collecting.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Jean (Fisher) Royster of Evansville; daughters, Rebecca S. McRoy (John) of Kingsville, MO, Kathleen K. Gregory (David) of Morehead, KY, Cynthia R. Jones (David) of Evansville and Kimberly R. Schmeits (Hans) of Brussels, Belgium; grandson, Ben McRoy (Shelby) of Youngsville, NC; granddaughter, Carrie McRoy of Blue Springs, MO; grandson, Michael Gregory (Samantha) of Smithfield, KY; granddaughter, Ashley McRoy of Kingsville, MO; grandson, Jared Jones of Evansville; granddaughter, Anna Gregory of Morehead, KY; granddaughter, Maddie Jones of Evansville; grandson, Mateo Schmeits of Brussels, Belgium; granddaughter, Olivia Schmeits of Brussels, Belgium; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. John McRoy, Dr. David Gregory and Rev. Ben McRoy, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
