Rogene Tichenor

Rogene Tichenor, 93, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Westpark Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 21, 1920 in Bowling Green, KY the daughter of the late Walter and Bea Garrettson.

She loved to play cards, enjoyed ceramics, church activities, and going out to lunch with friends. She was a past member of Newburgh United Methodist Church and Florence Christian Church in Florence, KY where she lived for 30 years. She was also a past member of Newburgh Eastern Star. She married Allan Tichenor in September, 1940 in Newburgh, IN. Before retiring in 1982, she worked at Sears for 27 years in Evansville, IN and Cincinnati, OH.

Rogene was preceded in death by her husband, Allan; brothers, Waldo and Carl; and sister, Rose.

She is survived by daughters, Gayle (Jim) Taylor of Norris City, IL, Pamela (Don) Mourning of Miami, FL; son, Gary (Vicki) Tichenor of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Nat, Scott, and Derek Taylor, Amy Smith and Lisa Crist; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30 PM Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Joe Schulte, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Saturday from 10:30 AM until service time at the funeral home.
