She graduated from Reitz High School in 1974. Rose was baptized at Liberty Baptist Church and then joined Memorial Baptist Church. She worked in the health field and retired from Woodlands Convalescent Center Nursing Home, where she worked for 15 plus years as an Assistant Activities Director.
Rose enjoyed bowling, playing spades, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and just loved spending time with family. She enjoyed watching Murder She Wrote, Andy Griffith, and all Disney movies. Rose also loved to travel when she could and loved listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Keith Johnson, Donald Kimbrough, Jerome Kimbrough, Tommy Kimbrough, and Norman McCord.
Rose is survived by her husband of 46 years, Antonio Hawkins; daughters, Nicole Hawkins, Stephanie Hawkins, VaShira Hawkins, and Tabitha McCarty; grandchildren, D’Ayrra Willett, HarMonee Baltzell, D’Landry Groves, JurNee Hawkins, and Shabria Martin, great-grandchild, Amari Cheatem, brothers, Larry Johnson (Mary), Ronnie Johnson (Debbie), Donnie Johnson (Simone), and David Johnson (Monee); many nieces and nephews; and best friends, Sandra Walker and Pam Scheming (Larry).
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Adrian Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
