

He graduated from Central High School in 1944 and graduated from Purdue University with a Pharmaceutical degree. He was a WWII Veteran, serving with the Army Air Corp. Roy worked as a pharmacist at Naborhood drug store at Columbia Shopping Center and later working for numerous area drug stores. After he retired, he enjoyed teaching fitness classes at St. Mary’s Hospital and Grace Baptist Church, where he was a lifetime member. He was also an avid golfer.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bettye (Pierce) Garrett; daughter, Karen Hutchison of Indianapolis; son, Brian (Jane) Garrett; grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Christopher Hutchison, Melissa Compton, Sarah Kiesel, and Daniel Garrett, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 1:00PM, Friday, April 8, 2016 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, officiated by Pastor Ray Deeter, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
