

Ruth Stewart, 86, of Evansville, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2013, at 8:37 AM at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 29, 1926, in Evansville, to the late Charles and Martha Koestring.
She graduated from Central High School in 1944. She was past president of No Ruz Grotto in 1976 and VFW #114 Ladies Auxiliary in 1964 and 1965. She was a homemaker for many years and then worked and retired from General Foods. She was a member of First Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Martha Vonderahe and Marie Schnell; and husband of 47 years, Don C. Stewart.
She is survived by her sons, Donald R. (Donna) Stewart and David (Julie) Stewart; brother, Charles “Donnie” (Jean) Koestring; special friend, Harry Gulledge; grandchildren, Troy Stewart, TJ (Dawn) Stewart, Michelle (Chris) Cox and Kelli (Blake) Bailey; step-grandchildren, Laura (Scott) Haffner, Lissa (Colin) Spence, Mandy Vollmer, Daric Chamberlain and Kelli Vollmer; great-grandchildren, Brandon Russell and Aaron Cox; step-great-grandchildren, Haley, Katie, Luke, Cameron and Andrew Haffner, Will, Meg and Anna Spence, Whitney Reider, Madison Kramer and Dara Chamberlain; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a special person who will be missed by all.
Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 11, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Gene Feagan, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Titzer, Dr. Houser and to Kelly with VistaCare Hospice for the loving care they gave Ruth.
