Shirley L. Weiss

Shirley L. Weiss, 86, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Bethel Manor in Evansville. He was born in Posey County, IN, on October 26, 1931, to the late Louis and Amelia Weiss.

He was a United States Veteran serving with the Air Force. Shirley retired from Whirlpool after 36 years and worked as a greeter at the West Side Walmart for 13 years. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon, IN.

Shirley was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Kingsbury) Weiss; and sister, Juanita Weiss.

He is survived by his children, Julie Weiss (Greg Renshaw), Randy Boyer (Susan), Roger Boxer (Marilyn) all of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Peggy Sue Heintzelman (Ken) of Arizona; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and brothers, Lester Weiss (Merilyn) of Mt. Vernon, IN, Robert Weiss (Genny) of Evansville, IN, and Melvin Weiss (Lorraine) of Mt. Vernon, IN.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, January 5, 2018, at Immanuel UCC, 5812 Ford Road, Mt. Vernon, IN, officiated by Rev. Doug Turner with burial in Immanuel UCC Cemetery where military rites will be performed. Friends may visit 2-7 PM on Thursday at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN, and 9:00 AM until service time on Friday at the church.
