

Stanley “Stan” Robert Ballard, 79, of Evansville, went to join his Lord and Savior Jesus on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born April 7, 1935, in Evansville, the son of the late Altha May (Bradley) and Austin Fourth Dubuque.
He attended Harwood Elementary School and graduated from Mechanical Arts, Bosse High School. He served for 12 years in the Navy Reserve and retired from Industrial Contractors, where he worked as a sheet metal fabricator and welding journeyman. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union 20. Stan served as president of his union’s retirees. He was also the original owner/operator of the Stan’s Una Pizza West in Evansville.
Stan was a founder and an active member of Grace Fellowship Chapel, and took great pleasure in sharing the good news of God’s grace. He was a certified Toastmaster, Sunday school teacher, and board member of Young Life.
He married Meda Sackett on December 30, 1955, and together they raised five daughters, Renee (Ron) Schwindel, Cindy (Noa) Pacarro, Becky (Mike) Meredith, Judy (Rocky) Davis, and Sandi Wilson. Together, Stan and Meda also shared in the joy of ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee “Sonny” Ballard of Sierra Vista, AZ; and two sons-in-law, Ron Schwindel and Rocky Davis, both of Evansville.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Meda; his five girls and their families; sister, Altha “Missy” Schonabaum; brothers, Gary Dubuque, Barry Dubuque, and Austin “Pete” Dubuque II.
A Memorial Celebration will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel of Remembrance.
