Steven K. Hite Sr.

Steven K. Hite Sr, of Evansville, IN passed away on Thursday December 11th, 2025, at the age of 71. He was born on July 9th, 1954 in Evansville, IN. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1973 and retired from Warrick County Public Library.

Steve had many interests and talents. He was an excellent woodworker; he had a knack as a handyman and taking excellent care of his yard. He also enjoyed being active; from his early years becoming a black belt in Kung Fu, to his time spent exploring nature with his family or riding on his bike. The time Steve spent outdoors were some of his family’s fondest memories with him. Above all other interests, Steve cherished his family and his relationship with God. He could be counted on to share a message of encouragement when most needed, as well has having a scripture on his heart to share with others.

He is preceded in death by his father Charles Hite Sr, mother Dorothy, beloved son Charles, daughter in law Martina, brothers Charles Hite Jr, Larry Welborn, and Robert Welborn. Sisters Darlene Crow and Linda Steiner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nila Hite; sons Steven (Kristina) “Keith” Hite Jr. and Christopher Hite;daughter Melissa (Randy) Evans, as well as his sister, Mary Riggle. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren who were the light of his life.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St., officiate by Pastor John Eaton, with burial to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
