

He was born on November 26, 1937, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Rev. Stewart Collins and Willa Mary Collins.
Mr. Collins graduated from Lincoln High School at the age of 16, and entered Evansville College (now the University of Evansville), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also served in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged.
Mr. Collins worked for several years at Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville. He later worked at General Electric Company, from which he retired. He also followed his entrepreneurial instincts, starting a restaurant and, later, a package delivery business.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ in Evansville. He enjoyed the church fellowship, frequently hosting picnics and recreational activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dr. Keith E. Collins; and his sister, Dr. Brenda S. Collins.
He is survived by his son, Eric Collins (Jamie) of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandsons, Christopher Collins and Nicholas Marks of Indianapolis; Two brothers, Wayne T. Collins of Bethesda, Maryland, and Stephen M. Collins of Evansville; two sisters, Addie Collins Johnson of Sharon, Massachusetts, and Gail Collins Williams (Joseph) of Wappingers Falls, New York; His survivors also include a nephew, Parker Collins Johnson (Karen) of Vancouver, Canada, and three nieces, Jennifer Wolfe (Dennis) of Evansville, Lauren A. Williams of Cairo, Egypt, and Kristen Horigan (Brendon) of Boonton, New Jersey; his great-nieces, Quincy Anne Johnson of Vancouver, Canada, and Rania Saeed of Cairo, Egypt; as well as numerous relatives and lifelong friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Alexander Funeral Home, East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Watkins Temple Church of God in Christ, 670 South Governor Street, Evansville. Burial will be held at Oak lill Cemetery.
