Viola Mae Day

Evansville, IN – Viola Mae Day, 89, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Columbia Healthcare in Evansville. She was born on January 8, 1936 in Poseyville, Indiana to the late Russell and Flossie (Andry) McIntire.

Viola grew up in Griffin, Indiana. She spent many years working as the secretary to the principal at Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana. She played piano and loved nature, birds, butterflies and cats. She will always be remembered as a caring woman who strove to be helpful to others.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Junior McIntire and her sister, Imogene Murphy.

Viola is survived by her children, Susan Cole and Allen Day (Chery); her grandchildren, Becky DeBaillie (Tim) and Jesse Cole (Anna); great-grandchildren, Henry and Ruby DeBaillie; as well as her nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions made be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to any other preferred charity in her name.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave. Evansville, IN 47714. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/funeralstreamUSA. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
