Bill graduated a football star and baseball player from Reitz High School in 1960. He was later inducted into the Reitz Hall of Fame. In 1963, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. In 1966, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds Minor Leagues. After an injury prevented him from playing, he went on to attend the police academy. He joined the Vanderburgh County Sheriff Department in 1967. In the course of his career, Bill was a patrolman, K-9 officer, detective, sergeant and corporal. He served in the Narcotics Unit for several years and was Police Officer of the Year in 1987. In addition to his police work, Bill owned and operated Arrowhead Taxidermy from 1975 to present. He was a member of The Blue Knights, Eagle Riders, and Legion Riders. He was very active in local organizations such as, the Eagles, Owls, Riverbend, American Legion and several others.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Victoria Droll and sister, Sandy Lawrence.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Krista Gregory (Jason) and Amy Droll; grandchildren, Kaylee, Miley, Adleigh and Brantley Gregory.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at Alexander Memorial Park, Heritage Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, with burial to follow. Friends may visit Tuesday, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, and Wednesday from 10:00 until service time at the cemetery.
